Hubert A. Fox - Senior Adult Pastor

Pastor Fox was born in Nevada, MO in 1932; he was a graduate of Nevada High School in 1950. He graduated from Southwest Baptist College (now University) with an Associate in Arts Degree; attended Baylor University; graduated from William Jewell College with a B.A. and from Midwestern Baptist Seminary with a Master of Divinity. Pastor Fox was involved in pastoral ministry from 1952 until 1963 when he and his wife Ann were appointed as missionaries to Thailand.

While on the mission field, Hubert and Ann were involved in several types of ministry. After language study (they speak, read and write Thai fluently), they were in rural evangelism in South Thailand. They were dorm parents for two years in Bangkok for missionary kids whose parents were serving in other parts of the country. The last 20 years of their service was as teachers at Thailand Baptist Seminary, a training school for Thai men and women preparing for various ministries in Thai churches. Both served as treasurer of that institution, and Hubert also filled several administrative positions.

In 2000, First Baptist Church, Nevada invited Hubert to join the ministerial staff as Associate Pastor of Senior Adults. With the exception of a six month period when they returned to Thailand, he has served in that position until the present. Hubert and Ann have a son, Plilip and a daughter, Beth, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Jeanette Hawkins - Children's Pastor

Jeanette grew up in Midland, Texas.  She lived with her mom, Connie and younger brother, Scott in a very artistic household constantly filled with art supplies and works in progress.  She graduated from high school in 1989 from Robert E. Lee High School when she decided to move to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK to pursue a degree in pharmacy.  She had already met Gary, the love of her life when she decided to change her major to Marketing.  Instead of transferring to another school she stayed in Weatherford to be close to Gary.  In 1992, they were engaged before Gary was transferred to Nevada, MO with 3M Company.  In 1993, Jeanette graduated from SWOSU with a BS in Marketing and a minor in Communications.  Also in 1993 the couple was married back in Midland and Jeanette packed her bags for Nevada.

Before Jeanette found her niche in the professional world, they started a family.  In 1996, Alyx Nichole was born and four years later,  Spencer Glen was born in 2000.  Jeanette was content staying home with the kids and the couple periodically volunteered at FBC, Nevada where they had been attending since their arrival in Nevada.  The more Jeanette became involved in church activities, she developed a stronger passion for youth and kids and served in those ministries however she could.  Not only could she attempt to make an impact in other students' lives, she could be close to her own children as well.

In 2004, Jeanette stepped into the role of interim Youth & Children's Pastor and soon learned that FBC needed to divide the two ministries in order to give all students more quality activities and the personal attention they so needed.  Jeanette stepped into the role of Children's Pastor in 2005and she enjoys working with the FBC staff and serving the families of Nevada.  She says FBC Kids are the best and she couldn't think of a better way to use that degree in Marketing... Marketing the finest commodity in the world, JESUS CHRIST!!  Her prayer for you is that your family will seat Jesus at the head of your household and that all your ways will glorify Him!

Tracy Ast - Childcare/Preschool Director

Tracy Ast grew up in El Dorado Springs, MO to wonderful christian parents, Wayne & Wanda Worthington & siblings, Michele & Jeff.  She is a 1991 graduate of Fort Scott Christian Heights. She graduated from Fort Scott Community College in 1993 with an Associate of Arts degree. She married Kyle Ast in February 1997. Kyle & Tracy have 3  children. Their first child, Karston, was born November 1997. Konnor was born March 2001 & Kylie was born April 2005.

Church & children have always been a huge part of Tracy’s life. From a young age Tracy loved babies & small children. If there was a baby in the room, it usually ended up in Tracy’s arms. Tracy worked briefly at US Bank & also the Nevada Medical Clinic before deciding that she was meant to be at home with her children. For seven years she opened her home to many children while their parents worked. In 2008, when Kylie started Preschool she decided that she would no longer watch other peoples children in her home & decided to focus only on her own children, but God had other plans for her.

In June 2009, Tracy started as the Preschool & Childcare Director at FBC. She loves working the young children & has many exciting plans for the Preschool department.  She has comfort knowing that she is where God wants her to be.

11/13/2009

I am beginning my second year here at First Baptist.  The first year was a getting to know and learn the operations of FBC.  The staff and members of FBC have made it a very easy process.  As we are about to enter this new year of 2010 we see exciting things happening.  The new addition to the children's wing,  and moving forward with a new youth center.

Being a PK I have been around church and the operations all my life.  No matter how I have tried other things, God always guides me back to the church.

I am here Monday-Friday; 9am-5pm.  I am also here on some Sundays.  Stop by and talk with me about any ideas or concerns you may have or any questions I can help you with.

God Bless FBC;  Judie Sliffe; Church Business Administrator
